A perennial plant of the family Violaceae (APG classification: Violaceae). It has a short rhizome. The aboveground stems grow to a height of 20-30 cm, and several tufts grow upright from the base of the plant. The stems and leaves are covered with fine white hairs, the leaves are triangular-cordate shaped, the inside of the lateral petals and the back of the tip of the pistil are hairy, and the spurs of the lower petals are short, which distinguish it from related species. It flowers in May. It grows in temperate grasslands and under bright forests in the Chubu region and north of Honshu, and in East Asia.
