A French monthly political and literary critique magazine. Founded in 1932 by Emmanuel Meunier, who advocated personarism, which emphasizes the personality in social and cosmic relationships, as opposed to individualism, which tends to be isolated by egoism, Meunier edited it until 1950 together with Georges Isard and Denis de Rougemont, and made a great contribution to the renewal of Catholic thought in intellectual and spiritual aspects. After a hiatus during World War II (1941-1944), it was revived and continued by Albert Beguin, Paul Thibaut, and others. Since the 1980s, new approaches such as sociology and political science have also become prominent.
