...In France, many works similar to science fiction were written by the Surrealist and Nouveau Roman movements, and works by older science fiction writers such as J.R. Rosny-aîné and R. Messac are being reevaluated as science fiction develops. In Japan, the science fiction coterie magazine Uchujin (Space Dust) was published by Shibano Takami and others in 1957, and the full-scale science fiction magazine SF Magazine was born in 1960. Since then, it has grown mainly under the strong influence of American science fiction, but after the death of the first editor-in-chief, Fukushima Masami, it has become more strongly inclined towards adventure novels. Authors such as Hoshi Shinichi, Komatsu Sakyo, Tsutsui Yasutaka, and Hanmura Ryo have opened the front line.
