A bulbous plant of the Iridaceae family similar to gladiolus. There are about 20 native species in Ethiopia, Tanzania, Malawi, South Africa, etc. In Japan, there is the Ethiopian Acidanthella bicolor A. bicolor Hochst. and its variant, Muriere. The more beautiful Muriere has attractive white flowers with vivid purple-black-red spots at the base of the three inner petals. Its fragrance becomes stronger in the afternoon, making it a popular cut flower and in flower beds. Its shape and properties are similar to gladiolus (planted in spring), with 6 to 7 sword-shaped leaves, a plant height of about 1m, and a spike of about 30cm, with 5 to 7 flowers blooming successively from the bottom.
