Edinburgh Castle - Edinburgh Castle (English spelling)

Edinburgh is a royal castle in the capital of the former Kingdom of Scotland. It is located on a rocky mountain surrounded by cliffs, and from any angle it has the stern presence of an ancient castle. It seems that this rocky mountain has been used as a fortress since ancient times, but it was first recorded in the late 11th century under Malcolm III (son of King Duncan, who was killed by Macbeth). The castle was the site of bloody murders and sieges during internal conflicts between the Scottish royal family and nobles, and conflicts with England. In the main citadel is a simple royal palace (15th century), which includes the living quarters of Mary, Queen of Scots, who lived a tragic life. The Great Hall (early 16th century) adjacent to the palace has also been the scene of many historical events, and weapons and armor are currently on display. The huge cannon called Mons Meg (15th century) is also a famous feature of the castle. In addition, Edinburgh's Old Town, where Edinburgh Castle is located, was registered as a World Heritage Site along with the New Town in 1995 (World Heritage Site).
