A Chinese poet from the mid-Tang Dynasty. His pen name is unknown. He was called Gyokusenshi. He was from Fanyang (Zhuo County, Hebei Province). He lived in a slum in Luoyang, did not serve, and did not like to associate with ordinary people, but his poetry and scholarship were highly praised by Han Yu. In November 835 (the 9th year of the Taihe era), he was killed as a collateral damage during the Ganlu Incident, in which Prime Minister Li Xun and others tried to wipe out the eunuchs' power but failed. He is famous for his strange poem "Lunar Eclipse Poem," which captures the astronomical phenomenon of a lunar eclipse with the image of a toad eating the moon, and his poem "I write to express my gratitude to Meng for the new tea he has sent me," and is known among tea masters in Japan along with Lu Yu, author of the "Cha Jing." He also has the "Tamagawako Shishu."
