...After entering Sanko High School, he met Nakatani Takao and Tonomura Shigeru, and developed an interest in literature. He lived a decadent lifestyle and developed tuberculosis, but he aspired to become a writer. In 1924, he entered Tokyo University, and the following year, he founded the magazine "Aozora" with Nakatani and Tonomura. He published masterpieces that would later become Kajii's masterpieces, such as "Lemon" and "In a Town with a Castle" (both 1925), but they did not attract attention from the literary world. From 1926, he went to Yugashima Onsen in Izu to recuperate, and during that time he wrote works that show his deepening awareness of himself and the outside world, such as "Winter Day" (1927) and "Winter Flies" (1928). ...

…三高入学後に中谷孝雄（なかたにたかお），外村繁（とのむらしげる）らと知って文学への関心を深め，頽廃的な生活を送り，肺結核になるが作家への道を志す。1924年東大に入学，翌年中谷，外村らと雑誌《青空》を創刊し，同誌に《檸檬（れもん）》《城のある町にて》(ともに1925)など後に梶井の代表作とされる佳作を発表するが，文壇からは注目されなかった。26年から伊豆の湯ヶ島温泉に転地療養し，その間に《冬の日》(1927)，《冬の蠅》(1928)などの自己と外界への認識の深まりを示す作品が書かれた。…
