Born: March 9, 1892, Brighton [Died] 17 February 1981. Moncook, France. British novelist. Son of E. Garnett. Studied botany at university, and worked for a refugee relief organisation during World War I. Became famous for his fantastic novel Lady into Fox (1922), which won the Hawthornden Prize and the James Tate Black Memorial Award. Other fantastic works include A Man in the Zoo (24) and The Grasshoppers Come (31). He also wrote an autobiography and compiled the letters of TE Lawrence. garnet |
