…After Budapest was restored in 1686, Hungary followed Vienna as a model in the 18th century, and Viennese architects and painters such as Hildebrand von Hildebrand and FAMaulbertsch came to Hungary to work there, but gradually Hungarian artists developed. Bogdány Jakab (1660-1724) was already famous in England and Germany for still lifes, and Mányoki Ádám (1673-1757) for portraits. Brocky Károly (1807-55) was popular in early Victorian London for his depictions of sweet women. …
