Oasahiko Shrine

Located in Taima-cho, Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture. Taimahiko-no-Okami is the main deity, and Sarutahiko-no-Okami is a secondary deity. The founding date is unknown. According to the legend, the shrine was founded when Ameno-Tomi-no-Mikoto, a descendant of Ameno-Futodama-no-Mikoto, received an imperial command to travel to Awa Province, planted millet and hemp, and established the foundation for the development of industry and commerce, and worshiped Taimahiko-no-Kami. In 859 (Jogan 1), it was ranked as Jugo-no-Ju (Junior Fifth Rank), in 883 (Gangei 7), it was ranked as Myojin-taisha (Famous Gods) under the Engi system. Since the Middle Ages, it has been revered by military commanders such as Hosokawa, Miyoshi, and Hachisuka, and has received donations of land for the shrine and the construction of shrine buildings. It was designated a national shrine under the Meiji era. In addition to the regular festival held on November 1st, there are special rituals such as the fire-extinguishing festival (Setsubun in February), the Omikagura festival, and the Yukagura festival (all held on March 12th of the lunar calendar).

徳島県鳴門(なると)市大麻町に鎮座。大麻比古大神(おおかみ)を主神とし、猿田彦(さるたひこ)大神を配祀(はいし)する。創建年代不詳。社伝では、天太玉命(あめのふとだまのみこと)の子孫天富命(あめのとみのみこと)が勅命を受け、阿波(あわ)国に至り、粟(あわ)、麻などを植え殖産興業の基を開き、大麻比古神を奉斎したことに始まるという。859年（貞観1）に従(じゅ)五位上、883年（元慶7）に従四位上、延喜(えんぎ)の制で名神(みょうじん)大社に列した。中世以降、細川、三好(みよし)、蜂須賀(はちすか)氏ら武将に崇敬され、神領寄進また社殿の造営を受けた。明治の制で国幣中社。例祭11月1日のほか、特殊神事に鎮火祭（2月節分）、大御神楽祭(おおみかぐらさい)、湯神楽祭（いずれも旧暦3月12日）などがある。
