Born in the second year of the Hōji era. Son of Kanazawa (Hojo) Sanetoki. He became a member of the Hyojōshū and Echigo no Kami, and in 1281 became the head of the Injutsu Party. In 1282, he was implicated in the Shimotsuki Uprising, in which his wife's father, Adachi Yasumori, was killed by the regent Hojo Sadatoki, and was exiled to Habuno Manor in Shimōsa, where he became a monk. He was later pardoned and became a shusō. He loved learning, and many of the Chinese books he copied are stored in the Kanazawa Bunko. He died on March 28, the third year of the Shōan era.
