...The perfect pairing between Morishige and the bar hostess, Awashima Chikage, is reminiscent of Toyoda's "Meoto Zenzai" (1955). Following the positive reception of this work, in 1961, director Hisamatsu Seiji made "Ekimae Danchi" (Ekimae Danchi), which depicts the sexual, lustful, and humorous commotion surrounding the land development of a mammoth housing complex, and it became a hit. From this point, it was decided to make it into a series, and from the third film, "Comedy Ekimae Bento" (Ekimae Bento), set in a station bento shop in Hamamatsu in the same year, the film was labelled as a "comedy" and the slapstick and slapstick comedy became more prominent.
