... Nakanishiya, which published "Nihonichi no Ebanashi" and five volumes of Kashima Naruaki's "Ohanashi" (1913), represents the publisher of high-quality picture books of the time. Next, Tomiyamabo, which published the Model Family Library in the mid-Taisho period, published three volumes of Kusuyama Masao's "E to Ohanashi no Hon" (Book of Pictures and Stories) (1925-26), whose artists owe their success to the pool of picture magazines that emerged in the mid-Taisho period. "Kodomo no Tomo" (Friend of Children) was published in 1914, "Kodomo no Kuni" (Children's Country) in 1921, and "Kodomo Asahi" (Children's Asahi) in 1923, and these books helped such artists as Okamoto Kiichi, Shimizu Yoshio, Takei Takeo, Kawakami Shiro, Hatsuyama Shigeru, Murayama Tomoyoshi, and Honda Shotaro to flourish. ...
