Laurana
Italian sculptor and architect. He was active not only in Italy but also in France, and was important in introducing the Renaissance style to France. His early biography is unknown, and the first work with a date is the Arc de Triomphe in Naples. He is known for his sculptures such as the reliefs of the Church Fathers in the Basilica of San Francesco in Palermo, as well as the Portrait of Battista Sforza (c. 1475, in the Bargello Museum, Florence), and in his later years he worked as a medallion maker in France.

イタリアの彫刻家,建築家。イタリア国内だけでなくフランスでも広く活動,ルネサンス様式をフランスに伝えた点で重要。初期の伝記は不詳で,ナポリの凱旋門が年記のある最初の作品。彫刻ではパレルモのサン・フランチェスコ聖堂にある教父の浮彫群像のほか《バティスタ・スフォルツァの肖像》(1475年ころ,フィレンツェ,バルジェロ美術館蔵)などが知られ,晩年はフランスでメダイヨン作者として活動した。
