(Also called "Eisan") Abbreviation of "Hieizan (Mount Hiei)". ※Sandai Jitsuroku - January 14, 864 (6th year of the Jogan Era) "At the end of the Daido era, I entered Kyoto and climbed Mt. Hiei ." ※ Heike (before the 13th century) 7 "Mt. Hiei was built during the reign of Emperor Kanmu. After Dengyo Daishi returned to Japan from China, he spread the Tendai Buddhist teachings here."
