Born in the second year of Joho. A member of the Shingon sect. He succeeded Kanjo in the teachings of the late Kanjo. He entered Toji Temple and became Gon no Shosozu in the first year of Hoen. He became Sanchoja of Toji Temple in the second year of Tenyo, and Hoin in the sixth year. He opened Hojuin Temple at Ninnaji Temple and became the founder of the Hojuin school. His works include "Zuzosho" (one theory says that the original author was Eju). He passed away on August 14, the first year of Nimbyo. He was 77 years old. His secular surname was Taira.
