Born in 1571. The second son of Okawachi Hidetsuna. Adopted by Matsudaira Masatsugu. Served as a close attendant to Tokugawa Ieyasu, and became the first head of the Okawachi (Matsudaira) clan, which became the lord of Tamanawa Domain in Sagami (Kanagawa Prefecture) in 1620. 22,000 koku. Devoted himself to the construction of Nikko Toshogu Shrine and donated the Nikko Cedar Avenue. Died on June 22, 1575. Age 73. His original name was Masahisa.
