Kanamori family

Japanese: 金森氏 - かなもりうじ

A feudal lord in the early modern period. Sadachika, the son of Sadayori, a branch of the Toki clan of Mino, lived in Kanamori in Yasu County, Omi Province, and took the name Kanamori. His son Nagachika served Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and in 1585 (Tensho 13) pacified Hida, and the following year was assigned 38,700 koku of land for the whole province. After the Battle of Sekigahara, Yoshishige was given the title of lord of Takayama Domain in Hida for generations. In 1692 (Genroku 5), Yoritoki was transferred to Kaminoyama in Dewa Province, and five years later was transferred again to become lord of Yawata Domain in Gujo County, Mino Province. His grandson Yorikane was found guilty of mismanagement during the Gujo Rebellion (Kanamori Disturbance), and was stripped of his title in 1758 (Horeki 8).

近世大名。美濃土岐氏庶流定頼の子定近が，近江野洲郡金森に住し金森氏を称した。その子長近は織田信長･豊臣秀吉に仕え，1585年(天正13)飛驒を平定し翌年一国3万8700石をあてがわれる。関ヶ原の戦後，可重（よししげ）が安堵をうけ代々飛驒高山藩主。頼（よりとき）に至り1692年(元禄5)出羽上山に移され，5年後さらに移封されて美濃郡上（ぐじよう）郡八幡藩主。その孫頼錦（よりかね）は郡上一揆(金森騒動)の失政を問われ1758年(宝暦8)改易。
