Ministry of Transport and Communications

Japanese: 運輸通信省 - うんゆつうしんしょう
Ministry of Transport and Communications
An administrative agency established in 1943 with the aim of strengthening the integration of land and sea transportation as the Pacific War intensified. It was formed by reorganizing and integrating the Ministry of Railways, the Ministry of Communications, the Department of Warehousing (Ministry of Commerce and Industry), the Department of Ports and Harbors (Ministry of the Interior), and the Department of Meteorology (Ministry of Education). However, due to the complexity and size of the organization, it did not function adequately, so in 1945 the department of communications was separated and reorganized as the Ministry of Transport.
