A perennial grass of the grass family. It resembles Unnuke, but the spikelet reaches 6 mm in length, and the first lemma has green rete veins. The base of the culm is reddish brown, but is not densely hairy and does not swell. It grows in dry grasslands in Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, and Okinawa west of the Tokai region, and is distributed in China, the Philippines, India, and Africa.

イネ科の多年草。ウンヌケに似るが、小穂の長さが6ミリメートルに達し、第1外穎(がいえい)には緑色の網脈がみられる。稈(かん)の基部は赤褐色を帯びるが、毛を密生せず、膨らまない。東海地方以西の本州、四国、九州、沖縄の乾燥した草地に生え、中国、フィリピン、インドおよびアフリカに分布する。
