An American copper company founded in 1895, and newly established in 1915 after the parent company was dissolved. In addition to Anaconda, Montana, the company has numerous mines in Chile, Mexico, Canada, and other countries, and engages in mining, smelting, and processing of non-ferrous metals such as copper. It is one of the world's largest copper companies, and is one of the three major copper companies along with Helps and Kennecott. The company was hit hard when its Chilean mines, which accounted for two-thirds of its copper production, were nationalized in 1971, and it was acquired by the oil company Atlantic Richfield Corporation (ARCO) in 1977.

米国の産銅会社。1895年設立，1915年親会社解散で新発足。モンタナ州アナコンダのほか，チリ，メキシコ，カナダなどに多数の鉱山をもち，銅などの非鉄金属の採掘，製錬，加工品製造を行い，世界最大級で，ヘルプス社，ケネコット社とともに３大産銅会社となった。産銅量の３分の２を占めたチリの鉱山が1971年に国有化されて打撃を受け，1977年石油会社アトランティック・リッチフィールド社（ARCO）に買収された。
