Born November 21, Tempo 10. He went to Edo to study under the third generation woodblock engraver Kimura Kahei, while also researching copperplate etching methods. In 1871, he opened the copperplate engraving shop Keigandou at Kanda Benkeibashi and was also involved in producing official papers. In 1894, he founded a copperplate lithography company in Ginza. He passed away on June 18, 1906, at the age of 68. He was born in Kazusa (Chiba prefecture). His real surname was Ogawa, and he was commonly known as Hinokichi. His other pen name was Fushikanan.
