Bistriţa (English spelling)
A city in northern Romania. Located on the Bistrica River. Settled by Germans from Transylvania in the early 13th century, it flourished as a trading hub throughout the Middle Ages. After World War I, it became part of the Kingdom of Romania. In the old town, medieval fortress towers and walls remain, as well as an evangelical church with a mixture of Romanesque and Gothic styles. It is also known as the birthplace of poet Andrei Muresanu, known for writing the lyrics of the Romanian national anthem.

ルーマニア北部の都市。ビストリツァ川沿いに位置する。13世紀初頭、トランシルバニア地方のドイツ人が入植し、中世を通じて交易の拠点として栄えた。第一次大戦後にルーマニア王国に帰属。旧市街には、中世に築かれた要塞の塔や城壁、ロマネスク様式とゴシック様式が混在する福音教会が残っている。ルーマニア国歌の作詞者として知られる詩人アンドレイ=ムレシャヌの生地としても知られる。
