A British law enacted in 1829. In English, it is called the Catholic Emancipation Act. In Britain, Catholics were discriminated against after the establishment of the Anglican Church, especially after Elizabeth I, and were excluded from public office by the Emancipation Act. The Act was enacted in consideration of the rise of liberalism since the end of the 18th century and the policy towards Ireland, and almost all political discrimination was abolished.
