...One of the vehicles used in China and Korea. A palanquin or palanquin carried by a palanquin carrier (輿町, 轎伕) from the front and back with people inside. There are three types of palanquin: hand palanquins (tagoshi) and waist palanquins (yoyo), which are carried by lifting the shafts around the waist, and shoulder palanquins (katagoshi), which are carried by lifting the shafts on the shoulders.

In modern Chinese, they are collectively called "轎子". The structure and shape of 轎子 vary depending on the region, and they are made of wood or bamboo. Their uses and functions are diverse, and the first 轎子 was said to have been called "平肩輿".
