...In the Imperial Palace, a memorial service for the Emperor and Empress is held, and the day before the Daijosai and Niinamesai festivals is the day. According to the Kojiki, the origin of the festival is said to have been started by Umashimaji no Mikoto during the reign of Emperor Jimmu. It is a mysterious ritual based on a belief unique to Japan.
