〘Noun〙 In the Heian period, a low-ranking official of the Kebiishicho. They guarded the prison attached to the office and were responsible for pursuing criminals. At first there were two on each side, but later the number was increased considerably. Kadono no Osashi. ※Sandai Kaku-20, Tencho 9 (832), July 9: "Two on each side as the head of the guards"
