Mount Kaibetsu - Unabetsu

Japanese: 海別岳 - うなべつだけ

A volcano at the base of the Shiretoko Peninsula in eastern Hokkaido. It is 1,419 meters above sea level. It is located on the border between the towns of Shari, Rausu, and Shibetsu, and is a cone-shaped volcano with an eroded mountainous base at an altitude of less than 700 meters. Its parasitic volcano is Mt. Koumibetsu (890 meters). It belongs to the Kuril volcanic belt and is composed mainly of andesite and basalt. It is part of the Sharidake Prefectural Natural Park.

北海道東部，知床半島の基部にある火山。標高 1419m。斜里，羅臼，標津3町の境に位置し，標高 700m以下の浸食された山地を基盤とする円錐 (コニーデ) 形の火山。寄生火山に小海別岳 (890m) がある。千島火山帯に属し，おもに安山岩，玄武岩から成る。斜里岳道立自然公園に属する。
