...Placing seasonal flowers such as azaleas at the water outlet of the seedbed is a sign to welcome the rice field god at the start of farming. On the 8th day of the 4th lunar month, flowers picked from the mountains are attached to the end of a bamboo pole and hung high at the entrance to the house. This is called "Tentōbana on the 8th day of Uzuki." On this day, people go mountain climbing to nearby mountains and pick azaleas and other flowers.
