...As Ise faith developed, this trend was also seen in places other than Kobe and Mikuriya, and especially after the Nanboku-cho period, the gods of the Inner and Outer Shrines of Ise were frequently welcomed and worshipped in various places, called Ima Shinmei or Tobi Shinmei. The Uji Shinmei Shrine near Kyoto began to appear frequently in the diaries of members of the imperial family, nobles, and Zen monks from around 1416 (Oei 23), and the Kyogen play Ima Shinmei also says that "the gods were sent to Uji." From the end of the Middle Ages to the beginning of the early modern period, when pilgrimages to Ise Shrine became popular nationwide, Shinmei shrines began to be worshipped in remote areas as well. ...
