Ukare-bushi - Ukare-bushi

Japanese: うかれ節 - うかれぶし
Ukare-bushi - Ukare-bushi

It is thought to have evolved from sermons and ritual songs, but it originated in Osaka during the Horeki era (1751-64) and was called "chongare," and moved to Edo during the Bunsei era (1818-30) and was called "chobokure" or "ukarebushi." The lyrics include words such as "choborire chongare" and "chobokure chongare," so it is likely that it was called "chongare" in Kamigata and "chobokure" in Edo. ...

From "Naniwabushi"

...It is performed solo to the accompaniment of the shamisen, and many of them have themes of obligation and human feelings. In the Kansai region, it was called "Ukare-bushi" until the 1900s. The time of its origin is unclear, but "Kyuu Shoran" also states, "There is a type of song called chobokure, which is different from the previous tunes in that it rarely sings lines and often only sings words.
