A former town in Toda County, central Miyagi Prefecture. Occupying the plains between the Eai River and the Naruse River, rice from nearby farming villages has long been collected and transported to Ishinomaki and other areas. It is a strategic transportation hub where the Tohoku Main Line, Rikutou East Line, and Ishinomaki Line intersect. In addition to rice, pears are also produced in abundance, and there is an agricultural processing plant. In January 2006, it was merged with Nango Town, Toda County, to become a town, Misato Town, Toda County. 35.54 km2 .
