Japanese: 小牛田[町] - こごた

A former town in Toda County, central Miyagi Prefecture. Occupying the plains between the Eai River and the Naruse River, rice from nearby farming villages has long been collected and transported to Ishinomaki and other areas. It is a strategic transportation hub where the Tohoku Main Line, Rikutou East Line, and Ishinomaki Line intersect. In addition to rice, pears are also produced in abundance, and there is an agricultural processing plant. In January 2006, it was merged with Nango Town, Toda County, to become a town, Misato Town, Toda County. ^{35.54 km2} . Population 20,191 (2003).

宮城県中部，遠田(とおだ)郡の旧町。江合(えあい)川と鳴瀬川にはさまれた平野部を占め，古くから付近農村の米を集め，石巻などへ輸送した。東北本線，陸羽東(りくうとう)線，石巻線の交差する交通要地。米のほかナシを多産し，農産加工場がある。2006年１月，遠田郡南郷町と合併し町制，遠田郡美里町となる。35.54km²。２万191人（2003）。
