Wertheim - Weltheim

...Department stores are often abbreviated to the English word. The first department stores in each country are said to be Bon Marché, which appeared in Paris in 1852, Macy, which opened in New York in 1858, Whiteley, which opened in the UK in 1963, and Wertheim, which opened in Germany in 1970. In Japan, being a latecomer, the first was Mitsukoshi, which opened in 1904 after a remodeling, about half a century later, and it imitated department stores in developed countries such as the UK to a certain extent.
