On the other hand, the daily conversation of ordinary people in the northern and western rural areas was still dominated by Welsh, and with the evangelical movement from the late 18th century onwards, the Welsh language came to be valued as a means of mass educa- tion. In the late 19th century, influenced by the movements for self-government in Ireland and Scotland, a movement to restore Welsh identity emerged, focusing mainly on education and religion, and culminated in the establishment of the Welsh Office to handle educational administration (1906) and the abolition of the Church of England's privileges in Wales (1914). The movement continued to stagnate during the interwar period due to the economic recession, unemployment problems, and the passive attitude of the Labour Party, which took control of electoral districts in place of the Liberal Party, but it was revived against the backdrop of the prosperity after World War II and the growing resentment against the progress of centralization, and in 1966 a Minister for Wales and a Welsh Office were established, and in 1967 the Welsh Language Act meant that England would not include Wales for the first time in two centuries. *Some of the glossaries referring to the "Welsh Agency" are listed below.
