…He studied at Kwansei Gakuin University, and submitted his military experience account, “Konoe Shinpei,” written during the Sino-Japanese War, to Hakubunkan’s magazine “Shounen Sekai,” where it was recognized by Iwaya Sazanami, who subsequently taught him as his mentor. In 1903, he held Japan’s first fairy tale gathering at a church in Yokohama, and in 1906, he founded the “Fairy Tale Club,” spreading the children’s culture movement centered on oral fairy tales throughout the country, becoming a master of oral fairy tales. In 1910, he established Sawarabi Kindergarten, and also devoted himself to early childhood education. …
