Curia regis (English spelling)

Japanese: クリア･レギス（英語表記）Curia regis

The term means "King's Assembly" in Latin, and was used by the king to convene feudal lords under the medieval feudal monarchy. It was the successor to the Carolingian "Placitum," and was inherited by Capetian France and Plantagenet England. The King's Assembly in the broad sense was a meeting to consult on state affairs with the most powerful lords and high-ranking clergy in the kingdom. Under the Capetian dynasty, it was active in the 12th century under Louis VII and Philip II (August), but then declined and was eventually replaced by the Three Estates General.

ラテン語で〈国王の会議〉を意味し，中世封建王政の下において，国王が封建諸侯を招いて開催した〈王会〉。カロリング時代の〈諸侯会議Placitum〉を継承したもので，カペー王朝のフランスとプランタジネット朝のイングランドに受け継がれた。広義の王会は，王国内の有力諸侯と高位聖職者を招いて国事を諮問するものであったが，カペー王朝の下では，12世紀のルイ7世，フィリップ2世(尊厳王)の時代に活発な動きを見せたものの，以後衰微し，やがてその機能は全国三部会により取って代わられた。
