Weber's line

Weber's line

In zoogeography, this is the distribution boundary line of animals proposed as the boundary separating the Oriental and Australian regions. It runs from the west of the Tanimbar Islands in the Pacific Ocean in the Southern Hemisphere, around the west of Buru Island, and passes north between Sula Island and Halmahera Island, so it is located quite east of the Walas Line and crosses the eastern part of the area that transitions from Southeast Asia to New Guinea. It was named after the Dutch biologist Weber, who studied freshwater fish in the Malay Archipelago, but there are many exceptions and it is not absolute.
