Weber, W.

[Developed country style pop music]

According to William Weber, author of Music and the Middle Class (1975), in the second half of the 18th century, concerts began to be held more frequently in the homes of elites in London, Paris, and Vienna, and public concerts rapidly increased in the 1830s and 1840s, with modern commercial concerts established by the 1870s. In other words, this was the period when an audience for classical music was formed.
