Born: October 28, 1883, Tokyo [Died] October 15, 1957. One of the pioneers who introduced modern management to Japan in the form of the Tokyo Efficiency Movement. Founder of Sanno Junior College (predecessor to Japan Efficiency School, established in 1942). After graduating from the Department of Philosophy (Psychology) of Tokyo Imperial University in 1908, he went to the United States and studied work research under FB Gilbreth. After returning to Japan, he contributed to the modernization of management in Japan as a management consultant to various companies, including the introduction of FW Taylor's scientific management method. In his later years, he devoted himself to the research and education of creativity, which had a great influence on the field of creativity development thereafter. His main works are "Efficiency Handbook" (54), "Efficiency Theory" (55), "Efficiency Lectures" (56), "The Development of Originality and Its Techniques" (57), and "Selected Works of Ueno Yoichi" (8 volumes, 58). His other translations include Principles of Scientific Management (32, by FW Taylor).
