Yoichi Ueno
Born: October 28, 1883, Tokyo
[Died] October 15, 1957. One of the pioneers who introduced modern management to Japan in the form of the Tokyo Efficiency Movement. Founder of Sanno Junior College (predecessor to Japan Efficiency School, established in 1942). After graduating from the Department of Philosophy (Psychology) of Tokyo Imperial University in 1908, he went to the United States and studied work research under FB Gilbreth. After returning to Japan, he contributed to the modernization of management in Japan as a management consultant to various companies, including the introduction of FW Taylor's scientific management method. In his later years, he devoted himself to the research and education of creativity, which had a great influence on the field of creativity development thereafter. His main works are "Efficiency Handbook" (54), "Efficiency Theory" (55), "Efficiency Lectures" (56), "The Development of Originality and Its Techniques" (57), and "Selected Works of Ueno Yoichi" (8 volumes, 58). His other translations include Principles of Scientific Management (32, by FW Taylor).

能率運動という形で日本に近代的経営管理を導入した先駆者の一人。産業能率短期大学 (前身は 1942年創立の日本能率学校) の創立者。 1908年東京帝国大学哲学科 (心理学) 卒業後アメリカに渡り,F.B.ギルブレスに師事し作業研究などを学んだ。帰国後,F.W.テーラーの科学的管理法の紹介をはじめ各企業の経営コンサルタントとして日本の経営近代化に寄与した。晩年は特に独創性の研究と教育に専念し,その後の創造性開発の分野に大きな影響を及ぼした。主著『能率ハンドブック』 (54) ,『能率学原論』 (55) ,『能率道講話』 (56) ,『独創性の開発とその技法』 (57) ,『上野陽一選集』 (8巻,58) 。ほかに訳書として『科学的管理法』 Principles of Scientific Management (32,F.W.テーラー著) がある。
