Systematic theology, also known as doctrinal theology, is a branch of Christian theology that seeks to understand as intellectually as possible the doctrines that believers are expected to believe, that is, revealed truths, and to demonstrate that any objections to these truths are internally contradictory. 組織神学ともいい，カトリックなどでは教理 (義) 神学と称する。キリスト教神学の主要部門で，信徒の信ずべきこととされる教義，つまり啓示された真理を可能なかぎり知的に理解し，かつこの真理に対する反論が，それ自体内的に矛盾することを論証しようとするもの。
