Son of Uesugi Tomomune. Succeeded the Inukake Uesugi clan, served as guardian of Kazusa (Chiba prefecture) and Musashi, and became Kanto Kanrei in 1420. He came into conflict with Kamakura kubo Ashikaga Mochiuji and Yamanouchi Uesugi Norimoto, and resigned from his position as Kanrei in 1430. The following year he raised an army with Kanto warlords including Mochiuji's uncle Mitsutaka, the Chiba clan, and the Iwamatsu clan. Defeated by Mochiuji, who was supported by the shogunate, he committed suicide in Kamakura on January 10, 1421. His name was Ujinori.
