The Ottoman Vezir (wezir) position was originally inherited from the Seljuk Empire, but in the second half of the 14th century, the title was given to several people and their respective powers were limited. However, in the early 1360s, a system was created in which the first Vezir-i Azam was made Grand Vizier, and he eventually became the person in charge of all administrative and military affairs of the state in place of the Sultan.
