Indian miniature paintings

...the general term for art that has been produced since the 3rd millennium BC in the Indian subcontinent, which consists of parts of present-day India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Most of it is religious art based on India's native Buddhism, Jainism, and Hinduism, or on imported Islam, and is characterized by strong religious and unique sensuality, which had a great influence on art in other parts of Asia. In ancient times, Buddhism led creative activity, and Hindu art gradually became more popular from the end of antiquity, reaching its peak in the early Middle Ages.
