…Born in Campo de la Cruz, a small village in the province of Buenos Aires, he traveled widely throughout Argentina during his childhood and adolescence, studying music and literature while working. In 1929, he wrote his first song, Camino del indio. Throughout the 1930s and 1940s, he gradually gained recognition as a poet and musician, and around 1950, he released works such as Luna tucumana (Moon of Tucuman) and Los ejes de mi carreta (Swinging in the Ox Carriage). He also became a leading figure in the world of folklore (popular music based on folk songs) with his left-handed guitar playing and songs with a deep, sophisticated narrative style. …
