Japanese: 花鳥余情 - かちょうよじょう

A commentary on the Tale of Genji from the Muromachi period. Also known as Kacho Yosei. 30 volumes. Written by Ichijo Kaneyoshi. Published in 1472. The preface states that it was written to make up for the shortcomings and correct the errors in the preceding commentary on the Tale of Genji, Kakai Sho. It takes great care to explain the meaning of the text and poems in accordance with the main text, and to clarify the context. The author, Kaneyoshi, was a nobleman who served as the regent, and as such, the content is outstanding in terms of court etiquette and customs.

室町時代の《源氏物語》注釈。〈かちょうよせい〉とも。30巻。一条兼良(かねら)著。1472年成立。序に，先行の《源氏物語》注釈《河海抄》の不足を補い誤りを正すために著した，とある。本文に即した文意・歌意の説明，文脈の解明に意を用いている。著者の兼良は関白をつとめた公卿であり，それだけに有職故実については出色の内容となっている。
