Illumination

...The prose poem "A Season in Hell," written between April and August of the same year, is an expression of a personal crisis based on the above experiences, and also a collective expression of all the hellish contradictions and sufferings of modern Europe. He probably wrote another masterpiece of prose poetry, "Illuminations," over the course of three or four years before and after this work, but from around 1875 he left literature and traveled around the world, from Germany, Scandinavia, and Italy to Java, and finally engaged in trade in Egypt and Abyssinia. In 1891, he developed a tumor in the joint of his right leg, and died at a hospital in Marseille at the end of the same year. ...
