Imajuku (Akita) - Imajuku

...In the late Middle Ages, the Onodera clan's branch castle was established here. Imajuku, which borders Numadate to the south, flourished in the early modern period as a river port and market town on the Omono River. In 1918, the Yokote-Numadate section of the Yokosho Railway (later the Ugo Kotsu Yokosho Line) opened, and Numadate flourished as a key railway transportation point. The railway was later extended to Omori, but was discontinued in 1971. Since then, the town has expanded in the direction of the mountains along National Route 107.
