Japanese: 茨木春朔 - いばらきしゅんさく

1614-1671 A physician and author of kana zoshi in the early Edo period.
Born in 1614. A native of Edo. He is said to have studied Confucianism under Hayashi Razan and medicine under Yoshida Sakuan. He became the personal physician of Sakai Tadakiyo. He was a heavy drinker, and in 1648 he challenged Ikegami Tarouemon in a drinking contest, winning by drinking 1.5 to (27 liters). He described the encounter in his kana zoshi book "Suichou-ki." He died on April 7, 1668. He was 58 years old. His stage name was Jioubo Tarutsugi.

慶長19年生まれ。江戸の人。林羅山(らざん)に儒学,吉田策庵に医術をまなんだという。酒井忠清の侍医となる。酒豪で,慶安元年池上太郎右衛門とのみくらべ,1斗5升(27l)をのんで勝利する。その模様を仮名草子「水鳥記(すいちょうき)」にあらわした。寛文11年4月7日死去。58歳。戯名は地黄坊樽次(じおうぼう-たるつぎ)。
