This zoo is located in Musashino City, Tokyo. It opened in May 1942 and is located within Inokashira Park. It is divided into a main zoo and an annex, with a combined area of about 115,000 m2 . The annex has an aquatic garden, and the two zoos together breed and exhibit over 170 species of mammals, birds, fish, and more. Hanako, the first Asian elephant to come to Japan after the war, holds the record for the longest lifespan in Japan (she died in May 2016 at the age of 69). 東京都武蔵野市にある動物園。1942年5月オープン。井の頭公園内にある。本園と分園にわかれ、両方をあわせた面積は約11万5千m2。分園には水生園があり、両園あわせてほ乳類、鳥類、魚類など約170種を超える動物を飼育・展示する。戦後はじめて来日したアジアゾウのはな子は長寿日本一の記録を持つ(2016年5月、69歳で死亡)。小動物とのふれあいコーナーもある。
