"The Legend of Ippen Shonin"

Japanese: 《一遍上人縁起絵》 - いっぺんしょうにんえんぎえ
"The Legend of Ippen Shonin"

...Of the various versions, there are few that are of this Shokaihon lineage. In contrast, the 10-volume version of the Ippen Shonin Engi-e (Soshun version), compiled by Soshun (a disciple of Ippen or the second patriarch Taa), is devoted to the biography of Taa Shinkyo from the 5th volume onwards, and perhaps because it was more in line with the aims of the religious organisation at the time, many works of this lineage were produced. The first version has not been handed down, but there are the Konrenji version (made in 1307, although the extant version is a transcription), the Shinkoji version (made in 1323), the Kondaiji version, and the Seijokoji version (burned in 1911), which are also called the Yugyo Shonin Engi-e.
